I agree with you and had to think a lot on my own perspective.
I think if people can be better, they ought to be. This can be dangerous though.
If they know they can be better, and aren’t, they can become neurotic.
In depth psychology this is the pressure of unlived potential.
Some would tell them they are enough no matter what, to try and mitigate this pressure, but that goes too far the other way. People need to accept where they are and not deny it because they “should” be different. That’s self-defeating. But there needs to be an acknowledgement of what they could be that motivates them rather than beats them down.
I think you’re also probably targeting those who always seem pumped up and unrealistic, who also downplay the factor of chance in life. These people would seem to blame you if you drew a bad hand at a casino.
There sure are a lot of pitfalls in gaining the right perspective for self-development.
