Try not to worry too much about its length. Find time to learn new things and see how it sits with you or changes your perspective. I say new things because the tendency is just to try and go deeper into what you’ve always done — as if just around the corner is your cure. Also find time for space and looking after yourself.
My dark night took almost 3 years to come through. A little part of it still sticks with me but that could be because it’s a major experience that forever adds to the context of your life.
Coming out for me looked a lot like re-establishing old forgotten values and seeing unpleasant realities and working with them. I have written this article about my journey from nihilism to purpose which is largely responsible for myself coming through the other side.
